IDEAL-ALVA Smart Farm House

The IDEAL House will be expanded to include a smart farmhouse to be located in Pingelly.

IDEAL-ALVA Smart Farm House

A model showing the two-story design is shown here.

The IDEAL House concept is currently being expanded to a substantial timber framed house which will be utilised as the Farm Manager’s house on UWA’s Pingelly Smart Farm.   All the ideals of the present IDEAL House test facility – comfortable living via sustainable and smart means - will be implemented in a real situation in this Pingelly House.
The IDEAL-ALVA house is being reconstructed from a previously two –storey house which will be redesigned into a single level abode.

While the IDEAL-ALVA house will be connected to the local electricity grid, it is envisaged that the house will have renewable energy sources installed to make the house as autonomous as possible.    The house will be connected to a water bore, but will have water efficient appliances and water recycling equipment installed, again, to create as close to an autonomous house as possible.

The IDEAL-ALVA house will be fitted with a Dynalite smart control system which can control all appliances in the house including lighting and heating and cooling.  This will give excellent control of energy usage.   This has been kindly sponsored by Light Applications.

Also, Western Power has generously donated and installed a state of the art metering system which monitors energy usage and generation and also the software and communication systems required t monitor all of this information remotely.   This will be especially useful for students studying at the UWA campus, being able to monitor the site at Pingelly, on a real-time basis.
