IDEAL House Photovoltaic (PV) Launch

The IDEAL House Photovoltaic facility was officially launched at a ceremony held on Friday, August 22, 2008.

IDEAL House Photovoltaic (PV) Launch

The Solar Panels

The PV facility is the first of the smart energy measures to be implemented in the IDEAL House. Thanks to sponsorship from the Federal Government via the Federal Photovoltaic Rebate the IDEAL house now has 1.5kW of panels installed on the roof of the IDEAL house facility which is connected to the main electricity grid and so excess electricity can be fed back into the grid generating renewable credits.

Thank you to all staff, students and company representatives attending the launch:

  • Staff and students from EECE
  • A/Prof Jane Long who have the opening address
  • Company reps from Rio Tinto, Solco and ETCorp

And especially to Dr. Jasmine Henry and Mr. Michael Eastwood who spent many hours with the paperwork, soldering and wiring to get this all up and running.

If you missed the launch then please feel free to visit the IDEAL House located in the Engineering southern carpark (Carpark 14) close to Fairway Entrance 4 and marvel at the solar panels now sitting on the roof the facility.
