Launch of the IDEAL House Photovoltaic Facility

Located in
Carpark 14 along Fairway access number 4
at 1.15pm
BACKGROUND:
The Intelligently Designed Engineering for Advanced Living (IDEAL) House is a large multi-disciplinary endeavour being launched by the School of EE&CE to provide students (and staff) with the opportunity to contribute to the future of human habitation on this planet (for more information see http://idealhouse.ee.uwa.edu.au). There are many aspects to this type of house, in particular sustainable energy production and use, through smart use of appliances via automated control and high efficiency options. The PV facility is the first of the smart energy measures to be implemented in the IDEAL House. Thanks to sponsorship from the Federal Government via the Federal Photovoltaic Rebate the IDEAL house will have 1.5kW of panels installed on the roof of the IDEAL house facility which is connected to the main electricity grid and so excess electricity can be fed back into the grid generating renewable credits. Over the course of a year, the energy generated by the PV facility will save around 2.5 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
